View Full Version : How does Youtubes new content ID system affect my future hobby?

After watching Angry Joes rant about youtubes new content ID system I have to wonder what does that mean for a little guy like me wanting to enjoy the hobby of review video games. Im not planning nor expecting to make $$$ or use it as a way to support myself. But an after work personal hobby.

What also confuses me is why would the PS4 and X1 implement services and capabilities to record gameplay and be able to upload it via youtube only to have it be flagged. Obviously this is not Sony or Microsoft doing this. Youtube is at the forefront in this latest moronic development in video gaming.

I suppose the obvious answer would be to not use youtube. But what other sites allow you to upload my own created content that reaches a huge amount of people like youtube? Ive posted a couple shallow mini personal reviews on this site. I do plan to continue to write my reviews and share with you guy/gals as well as improve my writing delivery. But what can I do to make it so more then a few of my friends see my work?

How deep of an impact does youtubes new content ID system have on people like me?

(FYI I was bored and curious, as well as didn't know where to create thread so I figured hobbies would be a good spot)

Also company's like Capcom, UbiSoft and others have come out in support of all the youtube content creators and said they would help them fight this (Not surprising, Nintendo has gone the other direction).

The issue in not the games but the music. Unless the publishers actually own the music then they have no control over it.

Sessler spoke about it a little bit more today.

Thanks Retro. Im not the biggest fan of Angry Joe but he seemed seriously affected by the whole thing. But of course I cant go against the Sess Man.

What it seems to me is that I need to use shorter smaller clips of my own personal recording and mute the gamplay (lol) to avoid being affected?
