"Battlefield 4 High-Performance Server Solution

04.25.14

Hi everyone,

As you know, we’ve been looking into resolving the “rubber banding” that some players on certain platforms have experienced with Battlefield 4 after the recent release of Naval Strike. We’ve found that the root cause of the issue was a configuration of certain hardware types dedicated to 64-player matches.

We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week. In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.

While the process took longer than we would’ve liked, we wanted to be 100% sure it was done right and that the long-term solution was properly in place.

Our objective is to deliver the best player experience possible. We feel this solution helps us deliver that to you. Stay tuned to our official channels for more information.

Thanks,

Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & GM

Or they could have used common sense and went with Microsofts servers...

At least give us a pair of 200% boosts or something.

Not sure I'd call that common sense while 70% of the internet continues to NOT run on Microsoft servers. :boink::ninja:

The continuing issues are pretty much BS this late after release, but at least they are willing to drop a significant investment on hardware upgrades to fix the problem, rather than going "eh, money's already in the bank" and just dicking around with endless software patches that never really fix it, which is what I'd expect from most large game corps these days.

Yes, however I'm talking about the dedicated Xbox One servers. Titanfall seems to run extremely well on them...

Hit the nail right on the head. I'm very disappointed with how this has been unfolding. It breaks my will to even fire the game up.

What is 70% of the Internet anyways?

Last time I checked... Porn. And the day that M$ controls our access to porn is a dark day indeed.

Typical Xbox-centric viewpoint! What about all the PS players? I think they mentioned the problem had to do with the 64 player servers too. How many players does Titanfall have again? :boxing:

Nah, you can ignore me. I've been dealing with upgrading a lot of MS systems and am a bit annoyed by them these days. No direct upgrade between Server Essentials 2012 and Server Essentials 2012 R2???? Total money grab.

Dice could run servers as smooth as silk, solve global famine, and even come around and give me executive hand relief...but all that don't mean shit if I can't find any MP's to squad up with!

Aint that the truth. I don't even know if the ps3 is having the same rubber banding problems. Without MPs to squad with I haven't loaded the game up in a couple months, much less dropped any extra $ on DLC or premium. I did however pay the $10 for the upgrade to PS4 before the deadline in March. Life BS just keeps draining my PS4 fund. But with all the bitching about BF4 being broken, at least I don't feel like I'm missing out on too much.
