View Full Version : Bayonetta 2

Thought we had a thread for this but couldn't find it.

Here is a hand-on preview article from the E3 demo. I am very please to hear that the game has kept the same over-the-top action, violence, and sexuality of the first without toning it down because it is now a Nintendo exclusive.

Unless the reviews say it is a broken POS (which I doubt) I WILL be getting this game. The first was one of my favorite action games in recent memory, had the best combat system in an action game I have probably ever played, and the story and action was so ridiculous that I couldn't help but smile the whole time, even when the game's unforgiving difficulty was kicking my ass. That makes the fact that they are bundling the sequel with a FREE port of the first game that much better, because I have wanted to replay the first for awhile now. Plus, I want to help one of the few 3rd party games on the system sell well so it may encourage others to make games for the system.

Anyone else interested in this? Who played the first? If you haven't and you own a 360 or PS3 I highly suggest picking it up for cheap if you like games like Devil May Cry (same creator).

I'm interested in the game although I don't know much about it. It looks strange and is reminiscent of a God of War beat em' up. You get the downloadable version of the first game, I don't think that I can pass this up. Most importantly it's showing support for 3rd parties by simply buying the game. There is also an anime in the works.

The story is bat shit crazy in the first one, but actually comes to a somewhat rational conclusion with a bit of a surprise twist.

I have played all the God of War games except the last one, and I can say hand down the combat system in Bayonetta puts GoW to shame. She could kick Kratos' ass.

That's saying a lot Borlaxx. I'm sold! I have only played God of War on the PSP-3000 with God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghosts of Sparta. Both are impressive for a handheld and the latter is amazing for what they did for the graphics on the PSP. I'm sure both HD remakes trump the PSP versions but good games on a portable device. Sometimes I like playing a beat em' up for fun.

Some details on the additional outfits based on classic Nintendo characters. I personally can't wait to play as Peach Bayonetta and summon Bowser to kick some angel ass!

Some hands on impressions, saying the game is actually more fluid and batshit crazy than the first, which is a very, very good thing. Unless there are some major gamebreaking bugs, this is going to be a must buy for me. The first game still ranks in my top 5 action games of all time, and has IMO the best combat system in a game like this ever. Bayonetta could kick Kratos' ass.

There is now a free demo for Bayonetta 2 in the E-Shop for anyone who is interested in trying the game before it comes out. I will be trying it for sure, but plan on getting the game regardless. I loved the first one and as long as this one isn't a glitchy mess I'm sure I will love it too.

Early reviews are starting to come out, and they seem to be very positive. I have to buy this game ASAP. Averaging a 91 on Metacritic right now. Would be higher but one reviewer gave it a low score because the action and story are absurd.....WHICH IS PART OF THE FUCKING POINT OF THE GAMES!

Destructoid, 10/10: "When Bayonetta came out in 2010, I thought it was nearly perfect. Four years later and Platinum hasn't lost its edge with Bayonetta 2. It's just as stylish and as fun as ever, and a must-buy for action fans who own a Wii U."

Gamespot, 10/10: "Bayonetta 2's combat is so expertly constructed, and its presentation so joyously insane, that you'd have to try so very hard to get bored of it all. In a year filled with the promise of ever more elaborate experiences on all the shiny new hardware, that Bayonetta 2--a homage to classic game design and escapism--should be the most fun I've had playing a game all year is unexpected. But maybe it shouldn't have been. After all, its predecessor still stands as one of the finest games of its genre. To have surpassed that with Bayonetta 2, and to have created a game that will be remembered as an absolute classic, is nothing short of astonishing."

Just tried the demo, and...

... Holy shizballs, that is one full on crazyass game right there.
Talk about a sensory overload, from start to finish it was just nutso!

It played really well on the gamepad using both the thumbsticks or the alternative swipe action on the screen.
The graphics were super fresh both on and off the TV screen.
This could be a great little game to play when the TV is being used, as the gamepad provided a perfectly enjoyable experience.

Just not sure I'll buy it though because there weren't any dogs or jetpacks.
Don't these people know its all about the dogs and jetpacks nowadays!?!

Like I've said before, the first game is my favorite action game of all time, so I have to get this new one. Plus it comes with a remastered version of the first game too, and im eager to play it again.
