View Full Version : Hardline DLC - News

In a recent discussion with members of the Don’t Revive Me Bro podcast, Visceral Games Multiplayer Producer Zach Mumbach dropped a few juicy details on the Battlefield Hardline‘s first upcoming multiplayer expansion pack, which was previously revealed as “Criminal Activity”.According to Mumbach, Hardline’s first expansion, included in all Premium memberships, will introduce four new multiplayer maps — a standard affair — two of which will be night maps. “Not, like, re-do’s of the main game, but, like, two brand new night maps,” he said.
The action will take place in a modern setting, like the main game, in locations like California and Florida. Maps will range in size and will be “a little bit more” destructible, but Mumbach says the studio has “done a better job of visually messaging what’s destructible and what’s not.” Players can also expect a few new vehicles, but probably no planes. He also told listeners that some of the DLC maps that are bigger in size are being saved for later, as they take longer to produce.
Non-Premium owners can also expect additional content in the future as well, like new weapons. “[…]the future is not just about Premium,” Mumbach explained. “We’re obviously doing a ton of Premium stuff, but we’re also going to support players that just bought the game and aren’t necessarily Premium.” No promises were made, but Mumbach says the studio also discussed letting non-Premium subscribers sample new maps with friends who own Premium. However, there are a few technical hurdles to overcome in order for that to happen.
Battlefield Hardline’s Criminal Activity DLC will be available this Summer with two weeks of early access for Premium subscribers.

The game could do with some larger maps, especially for hotwire.

And, back on topic we go.

There’s been a recent uptick in reports in the local precincts – a rash of violent crime that is seemingly connected somehow.Small crews of well-trained, aggressive criminals have been using force of arms to terrorize the citizenry and are in direct conflict with the police in many cases. Public property damages and insurance claims have skyrocketed, not to mention the impact on the police force.
Detectives have uncovered evidence of a secret crime ring that could be behind all of this activity. They’re not sure why anyone would coordinate these goals – in a number of cases, the take seems to be smaller than the risk. But, orders have come down the chain to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it. Will you help the police?

The Backwoods map looks good.

First look at Backwoods.

Deep in the remote, mountainous crags of the Pacific Northwest, there is no buzzing of sawmills and cries of “timber!” The equipment may be silent, but that doesn’t mean there’s no action at the abandoned lumber mills of Backwoods, one of the four new maps featured in Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity!

Backwoods is set among the redwoods and rushing streams of an old logging operation, which has been taken over and converted into a drug production facility. We designed this map to give players a natural, organic playground – a nice counterpart to the urban jungle of the game’s traditional maps. Under the redwood canopy, there are tons of hills, gullies, and rock formations to hide in. Abandoned lumber stations landmark the area, and a creaky covered bridge serves as a crossroads between two sides of the camp. (That is, until it’s destroyed.) Oh, and it must be said: this map is totally gorgeous.

One of the best things about Backwoods is that it can be played in any mode, including Hotwire, and our latest mode Bounty Hunter. In fact, Hotwire is probably the best mode in which to experience this map. It’s the biggest of the four Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity maps, and the wide open spaces give drivers a ton of options for shaking a tail or running down a hotwired car. In playtests, we’ve had some seriously wild matches chasing each other down ravines, through rivers, and over rugged hills. We really loved making this map, and we can’t wait to hear what you think about it!

Really wanting to get this today, but get a feeling I'm in the minority on PS4.
Anyone else making the purchase for the PlayStation?

Got them, and enjoyed them.
Nothing groundbreaking but what do you expect?

Got some great new tunes in car for driving like a madman around the woods.
And the close combat mall has a nice BlOps2 feel to it. But basically just the level from the single player. All good fun though.

Really hate that damn club, the colours are nuts. But I love maps overall.

The club is insane. The noises, the lights, the multiple angles of attack.
Sensory overload.

Had some good games with Clip last night.
He kicked serious butt, whilst I erm didn't!
