I bought the "Ear Force X11" from Turtle Beach. It's a headphone/mic combo. Sounds great with the sound fx and voice in the same headset. I play while the kids are sleeping late at night so no loud booms or swearing to be heard. Can be purchased for wired or wireless but the $60 version I have works great. The wireless is $200, that's a tad much for a family man. I found it at Best Buy BTW.

I'm considering getting the X31. There have been complaints that XBOX live disconnects when the transmitter plugs into the USB port. Anyone else have this issue?

I have had a few issues with both the Xbox mic and the Ear force one as well. I have to make sure the either mic is plugged in before launching the game. I plug in the mic after the system boots up and before I sign in.

The sound fx through the headphones are great, you can really hear more, especially foot steps. I like being able to play with the kids in the room and know that they can't hear audio from the game or other players.

OK update on mic combo

I know I didn't make any friends tonight trying to fix this thing but it's frustrating not being able to say "turn around before you die"

After a while I went to another game and the guy invited me to a "live party" and the mic worked great no problems at all.

I would like to try iy again on wed night?? any help out there??
