So since your abilities are limited by number, we should give our thoughts on the best abilities for each class and how it helps a team.

I really like the ability that tells you when someone is aiming at you and you haven't seen them. It's like a personal UAV that saves your back. I took the grenade shooting skill but since I already got the achievement I may trade it for something better.

The medics buffing abilities = MONEY. Also leveled up the two abilities that allow me to have two extra supply slots and also the universal ability that makes supplies replinish faster. I run around buffing health, rasing metabolism, making people temporarily invincible, and reviving people left and right. I know the medic is only "needed" for the escort missions, but IMO, having at least 2 good medics who actually support the team and keep the front line strong is critical to winning just about any mission.

Also, the enginner has an ability that doubles command post bonuses. Don't have that unlocked yet, but it could be a game changer.

Totally agree with you, B. Medics are very important on every mission that I've played, so far. We seem to spend a lot of time defending or attacking within relatively small geographies, so it is critical to keep as many team members up and fighting at all times. Last night we were defending a small room that was accessed by a couple of different attack points and the AI were just streaming in. They overwhelmed us on a few occasions, but as long as the medics were buffing health and reviving downed teammates we were able to hold them at bay. You def need engineers to repair stuff and set/disarm bombs. I haven't played the Recon or Soldier classes all that much, but I'm guessing that you prolly only really need one of each (maybe more Soldiers to replenish ammo). It's going to take awhile for everyone to get used to the support functions and how important they are. I've run out of ammo waaaay too many times with soldiers just running right by me and not replenishing. Really annoying. Personally, I've mostly been playing Medic and just loving that class (engineer too). From the moment I first spawn in a match I start buffing teammates health and reviving whenever possible. As a result, on the last mission I played last night I ended up at the top of the scoreboard with more than 10,000 XP.

Support actions are definitely key for scoring experience and winning. In the game Daylite scored 10k, I sat on a heavy MG most of the match and just mowed people down in a heavy traffic area. I'll bet I had 30 kills, but only about 1500 XP.

I've been playing engineer almost exclusively, but the medic's and soldier are sorely needed in most matches.

Kills don't count for match, it's all about the support and objectives. This game will weed out all the run & gun CoD fanboys pretty fast.

I need to respec my engy now. I didn't realize the power of command posts until last night.

My next job is levelling a soldier and finishing my engy.

I'm going to start running the Operative more. The Op can put a lock down on command posts so it makes it harder for the other side to steal. Plus that sticky bomb is awesome.

It is awesome to people excited about something new and refreshing in FPS gaming! :-bd

I haven't been this excited about playing a new FPS and experimenting with its features and getting better in a LONG time. If the developer holds to their promise to suppport the game and the 360 MP crowd keeps with this game, and no one on the PS3 side really gets into it, it will be a big temptation to somehow raise the funds to join the dark side.

YOu know the more you guys talk this game up, the more I am tempted to trade in HF, and buy Brink. Meg would kill me, but it might be worth it.

I'd trade HF in now regardless. I got $20 out of mine almost two weeks ago. Brink is a good game (so far) but it's not be worth upsetting the wife over. :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: b-( b-( b-( b-( b-( When the wifey is happy, everyone's happy.

From another thread. IMO this may be the overall most beneficial perk of any class in this game:

Also, the engineer ability to double the health or supply boosts you get from the captured panels is IMO a must have for everyone, even if you do not play as an engineer much. Being able to give every person on your team extra life or supply slots is a huge advantage, and since you can change to the engineer at the panel and do the boost and change back, everyone should pick this as an ability.

Best Buy is giving $30 for Homefront at the moment. I got $40 for mine soon after its release.
