So I hear there has been an earthquake on the east coast of the U.S. I hope any MPs and their families over there are all ok. In other news, it looks as if the Gaddafi regime is on the way out, the rebel forces have taken control of his main compound and house.

Just saw this in one of my trade e-publications.

Hurricane Katia to become a major hurricane as it approaches North America

Hurricane Katia, the season's second hurricane, is gradually approaching the southeast coast of North America as a Category 1 storm.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) predicts Katia will become a major hurricane by Sept. 3.
For the moment, wind shear in the Atlantic has inhibited the development of Katia into a major (Category 3-5) hurricane, the NHC says. Its current sustained wind speeds are 75 mp-h.
The NHC predicts swells generated by Katia will begin to hit the Lesser Antilles by late Sept. 2.
No coastal watches or warnings are currently in effect. It is still too early to tell whether or not there will be a landfall. Forecasted tracking maps show Katia heading towards an area just north of Florida, in the direction of Georgia or South Carolina. This path is likely to change, however, as the hurricane approaches North America.

RIP to the 4 miners from Wales that got trapped in a flooded mine shaft on Thursday, all four have been found dead :( I only bring it up as the North East of England (where Nuts, Liam and I are all from) HAD a long history of coal mining.

Every day I read a story that sends shivers down my spine.
I know there are always appalling atrocities happening across the globe, but these things happen closer to home in our so called civilised society and it leaves me totally lost for words.

Here are two stories that I can barely bring myself to share.
Read with caution as they involve very young children.

I saw this and thought it was worth posting, as it is an uplifting tale of how a child has changed his family's health.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18495104#

Marshall Reid came home from his school in North Carolina, US one day and decided enough was enough.

"I went up to my mum and I said you know what? I'm done."

"I've always been overweight and I was being bullied constantly," said 12 year-old Marshall.
...

It was a watershed moment for the Reid family.

"I think I'm a perfect example of a parent that failed and if my son didn't step up and talk to me about it, we would've continued down a really unhealthy and sad way of life," said Marshall's mother, Alex Reid.
...

It has been reported he dropped two trouser sizes.

It's rare the media reports these kind of stories, so I thought I'd share.

Man risks losing job to stand up for boy with down syndrome

A Houston waiter who refused to serve a customer last week did not lose his job. Instead, Michael Garcia is being celebrated for standing up for a little boy with Down syndrome, with people stopping to shake his hand at the restaurant where regulars are made to feel like part of the family.

One of those regulars, Kim Castillo, was at Laurenzo’s Prime Rib in Houston last week when several waiters stopped by her table. Her 5-year-old son, Milo, who has Down syndrome and whose speech is a little delayed, was showing off his new words and talking about his birthday the week earlier.

A family sitting nearby asked to move away from the Castillo family's table, and a man in the group made a disparaging remark about Milo.

“I heard the man say, ‘Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,’” Garcia told NBC affiliate KPRC-TV in. “My personal feelings took over, and I told him, ‘I’m not going to be able to serve you, Sir.’”

“‘How could you say that?’” Garcia said he asked the man before he left the restaurant with his party. “‘How could you say that about a beautiful 5-year-old angel?’”
Castillo, who noticed the family move but didn’t hear the remark, was grateful when she later found out what Garcia had done, even more so when she learned that the other family were regular customers as well.

“I was impressed that somebody would step out of their own comfort level and put their job on the line as well as to stand up for somebody else,” she said. “I know Michael did it from his heart, and from reacting to the situation. I don’t think he stopped and thought about what he was doing.”

Of the other family, she said, "It's sad that they're ignorant."

Castillo, 40, wrote in an online post that she has been taking Milo out to eat since he was born, and said her son, her only child with husband Eric, is better behaved than most children and was not misbehaving that night.

“Was he loud?” she wrote. “Maybe a little in the moment, but honestly, the adults at our table were three times louder than he was. ... If he had been obnoxious, which like any other 5-year-old he can be, I wouldn’t have thought twice about the family asking to move.”

Garcia, who has worked at the restaurant for about two years, knew the Castillos, and has his own special way of greeting Milo. “Normally when they arrive, I pick him up at the door and carry him to the table,” Garcia told KPRC.

As news of Garcia’s action spread across the Internet, with praise for him on the restaurant’s Facebook page and elsewhere, customers have been seeking out Garcia.

“The business has just been huge,” said Candace Roberts, the Castillos' regular server at Laurenzo’s, adding that patrons are mentioning Garcia's story. “People are coming in to shake his hand and eat at our restaurant and loving it.”

Castillo said she has never heard anybody say something negative about her son, a boy who hates fighting, loves to hug and has lots of preschool chums, both with and without Down syndrome. But she said she has seen kids and adults stare at him or take “second and third glances,” and has witnessed parents pull their kids away from Milo on the playground.

“It’s just ignorance,” she said. “Kids aren’t going to catch anything from him.”

She hopes that the story of Garcia’s kindness will lead to greater tolerance for others, especially for those like Milo, who look different than other kids.

“It’s just impressive to see the outpouring of love and support,” she said, adding that she hopes the story encourages “people to stand up for other people who can’t stand up for themselves and that it's worth taking the risk.”

“Maybe next time they’ll think twice before they utter those words or say something derogatory about somebody else,” she said.

Thank you so much for sharing!! Wow, I'd like to go find this guy and shake his hand! I'd also like to find the other family, especially the man with mouth control issues... We will just leave the rest of that to your imagination, but Pissedofferella wouldn't be very friendly! I guess most of you know I have a son with Down Syndrome, and I have been known to let people know what I think when they want to make rude comments or give me funny looks in public. I snapped at an old man in Wendy's once that was staring at my son while we were eating dinner. He picked up his crap and left!

As for the mom of this kid, love her! My son is also one of the most well behaved kids when we go out, and if he does get out of line, he gets in trouble just like my daughter. We treat him the same, we have the same expectations, and everyone else can kiss my ass!!

I’m not sure if anyone is following this story or how big it is in the national news but it is practically going on in our backyard. We live east of Dallas in Kaufman county and the latest murders were two houses down from my sister-in-laws house. The remaining DA lives in our community and his children go to school with my kids. Locally we’ve known this is tied in with the Aryan Brotherhood since the first shooting back in January but no one would admit it. There has only been one Aryan Brotherhood case tried in Kaufman County and it ended last year with the defendant getting 80yrs without parole. This one case led to many others being incarcerated too. Hopefully now that the FBI is involved in the case something will turn up when the next attempt to take out the remaining DA is made. Everyone locally knows it’s just a matter of time until another move is made because the one reaming DA is the one that prosecuted the Aryan Brotherhood case.

The one local guy that was the first one busted that got the big investigation started is a half-brother to one of our close family friends. We go on vacations together, attend parties at their house and frequently go out to dinner together. How F’d up is that! Like they say it’s a small world.

Hopefully one of these bastards will make a mistake sometime soon and end up getting busted.

From what I've been told the one local guy that was busted in Kaufman County led to the charges below.

http://www.fbi.gov/houston/press-releases/2012/thirty-four-alleged-aryan-brotherhood-of-texas-gang-members-indicted-on-federal-racketeering-charges

Thirty-Four Alleged Aryan Brotherhood of Texas Gang Members Indicted on Federal Racketeering Charges
Four Alleged Top Officials and 13 Other Alleged ABT Leaders Charged

WASHINGTON—Thirty-four alleged members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) gang, including four of its most senior leaders, have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Houston for allegedly conspiring to participate in a racketeering enterprise, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division; U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson of the Southern District of Texas; Special Agent in Charge Melvin D. King of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Houston Division; and FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen L. Morris of the Houston Field Office.
The 17-count superseding indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on October 22, 2012, and unsealed today in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Texas. Fourteen individuals were taken into custody today, and 15 defendants charged in the superseding indictment are already in custody. Five defendants, whose photos are at the conclusion of this release, remain at large.
“Today’s takedown represents a devastating blow to the leadership of ABT,” said Assistant Attorney General Breuer. “Four ABT generals, 13 additional alleged ABT leaders, and numerous other gang members and associates are named in the indictment. As charged, ABT uses extreme violence and threats of violence to maintain internal discipline and retaliate against those believed to be cooperating with law enforcement. Through violence and intimidation, ABT allegedly exerts control over prison populations and neighborhoods and instills fear in those who come in contact with its members. As today’s operations show, the Criminal Division, working closely with its federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, is determined to continue disrupting and dismantling ABT and other violent, criminal gangs.”
“This indictment is the culmination of a joint federal, state, and local law enforcement effort targeting a large-scale prison gang involved in violent organized crime,” said U.S. Attorney Magidson. “Only when we work in partnership utilizing all our resources can we attack a criminal organization and dismantle it entirely.”
“ATF is serious about fighting violent crime. We remain steadfast in our commitment to focus on those violent criminals who illegally use firearms to prey on their victims,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge King. “Through a collective effort with our law enforcement partners, this operation was a success today.”
“This multi-year investigation and indictment clearly targets the worst-of-the-worst among the ABT,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Morris. “This effort not only exemplifies the level of effort the FBI and our law enforcement partners will expend to prevent prison gang racism and criminal activity from poisoning our communities. It sends a clear message that we will relentlessly pursue and prosecute the leaders and members of these criminal enterprises regardless of where they lay their heads.”
As charged, the defendants range from senior leaders to soldiers of the ABT, a “whites only,” prison-based gang with members operating inside and outside of state and federal prisons throughout Texas and elsewhere in the United States since at least the early 1980s.
According to court documents, the ABT has a detailed and uniform organizational structure, with territory divided into five regions, each run by a “general.” The superseding indictment charges four generals: Terry Ross Blake, 55, aka “Big Terry”; Larry Max Bryan, 51, aka “Slick”; William David Maynard, 42, aka “Baby Huey”; and Charles Lee Roberts, 68, aka “Jive,” with conspiracy to participate in the racketeering activities of the ABT, among other charges.
In total, the superseding indictment charges 34 alleged members of the ABT with conspiracy to participate in the racketeering activities of the ABT. Alleged members of the ABT are also charged with involvement in three murders, multiple attempted murders, kidnappings, assaults, and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to the superseding indictment, the ABT was established in the early 1980s within the Texas prison system. The gang modeled itself after and adopted many of the precepts and writings of the Aryan Brotherhood, a California-based prison gang that was formed in the California prison system during the 1960s. According to court documents, previously, the ABT was primarily concerned with the protection of white inmates and white supremacy/separatism. Over time, the ABT is alleged to have has expanded its criminal enterprise to include illegal activities for profit.
Court documents allege that the ABT enforced its rules and promoted discipline among its members, prospects, and associates through murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, arson, assault, robbery, and threats against those who violate the rules or pose a threat to the enterprise. Members, and oftentimes associates, were required to follow the orders of higher-ranking members, often referred to as “direct orders.”
According to the superseding indictment, in order to be considered for membership, a person must be sponsored by another ABT member. Once sponsored, a prospective member must serve an unspecified term, during which he is referred to as a prospect, while his conduct is observed by the members of the ABT.
Ten defendants have been charged with offenses that are eligible for the death penalty. The remaining 24 defendants face a maximum penalty of life in prison.
An indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case is being investigated by a multi-agency task force consisting of the ATF; Drug Enforcement Administration; FBI; U.S. Marshals Service; Federal Bureau of Prisons; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations; Texas Rangers; Texas Department of Public Safety; the Montgomery County, Texas Sheriff’s Department; Houston Police Department-Gang Division; Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Office of Inspector General; Harris County, Texas Sheriff’s Office; Tarrant County, Texas Sheriff’s Office; Atascosa County, Texas Sheriff’s Office; Orange County, Texas Sheriff’s Office; Waller County, Texas Sheriff’s Office; Fort Worth, Texas Police Department; San Antonio Police Department; Baytown, Texas Police Department; Carrollton, Texas Police Department; Alvin, Texas Police Department; Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office; Atascosa County District Attorney’s Office; Harris County District Attorney’s Office; and the Kaufman County, Texas, District Attorney’s Office.
The case is being prosecuted by David Karpel of the Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Gang Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hileman of the Southern District of Texas.

I know. It doesn't take much to fire up the jingoistic ignorant few.
The only way to fight these terrorists is to show them that no amount of violent hatred will stop us living our lives.
Just as our US friends have bravely done so in recent times.
(Oh, and maybe a bit of medieval torture for the ones we catch won't do any harm will it?)

I am editing my post because Stains is right, Politics and religion should be kept out of this. No mater what view here we are all friends and I want it to stay that way. What happened is very sad and I do not agree with what happened, but my ranting was wrong .Thank you Stains for pointing out to me that we are a Family and that comes first. I know we are here to vent at times as well but should never let that venting tear us apart or open up gaps between us.

We are entering a touchy area, as it is against the Team code of conduct to discuss politics and religion.

But it is hard not to let emotions rise when you see your own government harbour radical clerics who are teaching the evils of the Western world within our own neighbourhoods.
It's even harder to see a innocent father of a 2y/o butchered in broad daylight in the name of religion.

Religion will NOT be the undoing of man, it will be the sick power hungry few that pervert it to gain power and advance their own agendas.

On a lighter note...

Cheese maker warned against supplying Gloucester cheese rolling (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-22639675#)

A cheesemaker has been told by police she may be liable for legal action if she supplies Gloucester's famous annual cheese rolling.
...

Mrs Smart, 86, who has made cheese for the event for 25 years, said police had warned her she could be regarded as responsible if anybody was injured.

Cheese rolling at Cooper's Hill features competitors chasing a wheel of cheese down a steep hill, and dates back to at least the early 19th Century.

Some 15,000 people turned up for the last official cheese rolling event in 2010 but Cooper's Hill, near Brockworth, is only suitable for about 5,000.

On a stranger note...

Hungarian Man Mauled by Donkeys

A 65-year-old man, Sandor Horvath, was killed when two donkeys chased him down as he rode his scooter on a farm in Hungary. Apparently, the donkeys knocked him off his scooter and trampled and bit him so badly, it was erroneously believed he had been mauled by wolves. While donkeys are not generally known as man-killers, the farmer's daughter said she had noticed they were acting strangely and had become increasingly aggressive. "They probably reacted like this as they thought the victim was intruding on their territory," a vet told local media. Police said the two donkeys would be put down.

Not offend, but when it comes to this continuing madness where if you call it out in any way you are called a racist. It's not about race or even religion, it's about a massive group of fucked up maniacs killing innocents and stirring the shit while benefiting from the very culture, society and way of life they claim to oppose. It's interesting that the recent cases highlight the fact that it isn't a massive group.
It's the minority. The one percent, that are shouting the loudest on the social networks.
If you consider the millions of posts on Facebook every day and the thousands of hours of footage on YouTube every hour.
He who shouts loudest gets heard the most.
And it is this 1% of extremist lunatics that are being heard, whilst the 99% of us good guys don't or more to the point 'can't' say what should be said.

As for the code of conduct, I only mentioned it to remind myself to keep it civil. As it is a subject that I could easily expand on. I didn't intend to filter anyone's thoughts but my own.

Oregon teen had 6 bombs to attack school

Evil has always been a part of the human history, and it always will be. And video games are just another scapegoat so they can get around that fact. And not place the blame where it actually belongs, on the person or persons that did the evil deed.

Hundreds of years ago they blamed Shakespeare and his compatriots. They blamed swing music, rock, metal, hip-hop. They've blamed movies and TV. Now it's video games. Older generations tend to put the blame on something they don't understand. The question is will "we" remember this when the next thing comes along. Will we realize it's just that some people are bad and do horrible things and has nothing to do with a form art, entertainment or media. Or will we fall victim to the same idiotic thinking that other generations have.

Oh and comic books, don't forget comic books. And cartoons!

Man dies after being attacked by beaver

I can think of worse ways to go...

In Belarus, a large increase in the beaver population has been blamed after a number of attacks on humans by the large rodents.

A man died from his injuries when he was bitten multiple times by a beaver in March. He had apparently been attempting to catch the animal in order to be photographed with it.

Ohhhh... that kind of beaver!

Excitement hope for Boring, Oregon, and Dull, Perthshire

http://i43.tinypic.com/2m2f5s1.jpg

A county in Oregon has proclaimed 9 August as Boring and Dull Day "in perpetuity".

The proclamation honours the pairing of the town of Boring in Oregon and the village of Dull, Perthshire.

Local officials have spoken of their excitement over planned events, including a piper playing and a barbershop quartet singing.

Dull residents have been reported as being appreciative that the link has encouraged Boring visitors.

The pairing of the two communities took place in June 2012, after Perthshire resident Elizabeth Leighton passed through Boring while on a cycling holiday.

"We have received lots of nice emails and, already, a few Boring visitors". Said a local.

Steven Bates, chairman of the Boring Community Planning Organization, said: "On behalf of Boring and Dull, I am grateful to Clackamas County for entertaining this proclamation.

"Boring and Dull Day, as well as the official recognition that Dull and Boring are 'a pair for the ages,' should definitely encourage tourism and excitement for the communities."

A sign erected in Dull marks its association with Boring.

Clackamas County commissioners have said they intend to have a Boring sign produced, with hopes it can be unveiled during Boring's annual Community Celebration in the autumn.

Dull resident Emma Burtles said: "This has really brought the community together. We have received lots of nice emails and, already, a few Boring visitors.

"It is clear it is a match made for the ages, and made in heaven."

Damn Sony fanboys!!!!

(kidding aside, this is a sad story)

After all is said and done, this fucking loser killed (viciously) his friend over $30.

Philadelphia police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man accused of ruthlessly pumping nearly a dozen shots into his friend's head after the two had a spat over a plot to steal a PlayStation 3, police said.

Malik Anderson, 19, was angry that pal Daquan Crump, 19, had cut him out of a share of the $60 he'd made selling a stolen video game console after the two originally agreed to split the cash, NBC Philadelphia reported.

Construction workers found Crump's body at the former site of a furniture store in northeast Philadelphia on Aug. 19.

Cops said Anderson lured Crump to the site, shot him in the back of the head and then continued firing once his one-time pal was on the ground.

Given a lot of the negative press in the NFL this year, it's been great to see some of the positive stories being told too (such as the Bangals/Stills thing). One story that I have heard before but saw this AM and wanted to share was about Andre Johnson. For the eighth year, he took several at-risk youth in the Houston area on a shopping spree of sorts and foots the bill. There have been better stories about it over the years, but just nice to see some of the ways these athletes give back. Not all of them are the self-absorbed a-holes that people assume they are (though there are plenty of them).

To enter the Marae (Holy Ground), you are faced with the Haka. And having learnt the history and origin of the ceremony, I certainly would not want to be on the receiving end of the ritual in the traditional sense. Intimidating doesn't quite cover it.
To see it face to face brings something quite primeval out in you, like you are experiencing years of tradition and the spirit of their ancestors.
Amazing stuff really.

Illegal

Failing to report grey squirrels in your garden
Being drunk in charge of a cow
Eating sweet treats on Christmas Day
Dying in the Houses of Parliament
Putting a stamp with the Queen's head on it, upside down on your letter
Entering the Houses of Parliament wearing a suit of armour
Standing near the Queen without wearing socks
Allowing your pet to fornicate with a royal pet
Jumping the queue (line) - specifically on the London Underground
Killing swans, as they belong to the Queen
Walking home from the shops carrying a ladder or a plank of wood.
Flying a kite in London
Wearing military fancy dress (used as recently as 2009)
Getting drunk ... in a pub
Ringing on someone's doorbell and then running away
Keeping pigs outside your house
Cleaning your doormat after 8am
Throwing fish into water, which is a bummer if you are a fisherman
Asking a stranger for change for a parking meter
Hailing a moving taxi
Handling salmon in suspicious circumstances !!!!!

Legal

A pregnant woman can urinate wherever she likes, not just inside a policeman's helmet, which is the common understanding
A man can urinate in public providing it is on the rear wheel of his car, and he has his right hand on the car
In Scotland, you are legally obliged to provide access to your toilet if someone requests it
In York it is legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow, whereas in Hereford and Chester it is legal to shoot Welshmen with bows... except on Sundays

Members of Hacker Group Behind 2014 Holiday Attack on PSN/Xbox Live Arrested

Two teenagers belonging to the hacker group Lizard Squad, which was responsible for the downtime suffered by both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network in late 2014, were charged with cyber crimes this week.

The news was announced in a press release (via Polygon) from the Department of Justice, revealing that Zachary Buchta and Bradley Jan Willem van Rooy were charged with conspiring to damage protected computers. Buchta and van Rooy, both 19 years old, were arrested in September, with Buchta being taken into custody in Maryland. Van Rooy remains in custody in the Netherlands.

The charges come after an investigation by US authorities into a website that allowed people to pay to have harassing phone calls made to a target. One such case of this saw a person in Illinois receive threatening calls every hour for 30 days. Lizard Squad also launched distributed denial-of-service attacks, better known as DDoS attacks, on unspecified "gaming, entertainment, and media companies."

Xbox Live and PSN were famously brought offline on and around Christmas in 2014, with Lizard Squad claiming responsibility for the attack on Twitter. Around a month later, a hacking tool sold by the group was itself hacked, revealing the names of more than 14,000 people who had signed up to use it.

Other arrests related to the 2014 DDoS attack were made in the UK in August 2015.

Original article can be obtained by the enlightened few who pass through these (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/members-of-hacker-group-behind-2014-holiday-attack/1100-6444324/) gates to the other side.

A sad week for our city as Exeter loses one of its most historically important buildings to fire.
Britains oldest Hotel not only withstood the Blitz but also avoided Exeters heavy handed, backward thinking Planning Department.

http://i64.tinypic.com/2heivrt.jpg

The hotel was “in the heart of what was not just the medieval city, but within the precincts of Roman Exeter”.

“For 2,000 years this area has been the focus of the city’s religious and commercial life.”

The ground and first floors of the hotel were medieval and the upper floors were added in the late 1700s when the building was renamed a hotel. The Clarence was “the building where they first declared themselves as a hotel. Before that happened [in the 1770s] we had inns, but they took the new French word and applied it to their building … this was the place to stay”.

“What is so particularly heartbreaking about this loss is that these buildings escaped the blitz of 1942 when so much of Exeter was destroyed.”

The hotel was built in 1769 as the Assembly Rooms and renamed the Royal Clarence in 1827 after a visit by Adelaide, Duchess of Clarence.

The mysterious death of a live-streaming gamer.

The death of a prominent gamer has led to a debate about whether gaming marathons are hazardous to health.

In February he took on a 24-hour-long gaming marathon, playing World of Tanks to raise money for charity.

Twenty two hours in, Vigneault reportedly went outside to take a cigarette break. He didn't return to the screen - and later died.

Everyone is addicted to something. It's a matter of how/if it affects your life.

The gamer/streamer who died, while sad, had other underlying health issues (smoker, drinker, diabetic). But because it involves gaming, the media loves to blow it up. Just in the Twitch streaming community, how many have died as a result of gaming? 3 people in the U.S. die using treadmills each year. Is using a treadmill dangerous for your health or did they have an underlying problem?

A Minnesota woman has been charged over the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, in what authorities say was a social media stunt gone wrong.
Monalisa Perez, 19, was booked into county jail after shooting at Pedro Ruiz as he held a book to his chest, believing it would stop the bullet.
The couple's three-year-old child and nearly 30 onlookers watched as she fired the fatal bullet into his chest.
Ruiz's aunt said they did it to increase their social media following.
Claudia Ruiz told WDAY-TV that her nephew had told her he wanted to do the stunt "because we want more viewers, we want to get famous".
"He had told me about that idea and I said, 'Don't do it. Don't do it. Why are you going to use a gun? Why?'" Claudia Ruiz told the news channel.
"They were in love, they loved each other," she said. "It was just a prank gone wrong."

http://static.standard.co.uk/s3fs-public/styles/story_large/public/thumbnails/image/2017/06/29/16/park-royal-stabbing.jpg

A teenager has been knifed to death in London’s fourth fatal stabbing in four days as a huge brawl broke out at a warehouse party.

The 18-year-old was stabbed in the early hours of Thursday morning at the venue in Coronation Road, near Park Royal Tube station.

Police said 50 or more people could have been present at the party when a brawl broke out inside the venue.

Fighting spilled out into the industrial estate where the victim was knifed, police believe.

Another man suffered a head injury during the violence.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 2.30am to find the victim suffering from knife wounds.

He was rushed to hospital but, despite doctors battling to save his life, was pronounced dead around two hours later.

Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks, who is leading the investigation, said: "At this early stage we believe the victim had attended a party at a warehouse type venue on an industrial estate in Coronation Road.

“It's believed around 40 to 50 people were there but it may have been more.

"At some point an altercation began inside, and then may have spilled outside, which resulted in the victim being stabbed.

“Another man was treated at the scene for a head injury and it may be that others were injured too - we would appeal for those people to come forward.

"At this stage we don't know what sparked the altercation and we would appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to speak to us as soon as possible."

One neighbouring business owner said the party had taken place in an old car showroom near a number of mechanics’ shops.

He claimed local businesses had complained to the council and police in recent months about scenes of havoc there at night, with people pulling up in cars well into the early morning.

He said: “Nobody took care of that place. They should’ve stopped these people a long time ago.

“I hope the authorities will do something now.”

The latest incident comes after three people were stabbed to death in the space of 24 hours on Monday.

It's not that new anymore. But, well, that escalated quickly. Saw a more in-depth documentary about the protests and riots earlier and tried to find something similar for you to understand. This is pretty single-sided and only shows what supposedly started it all at the Welcome to Hell protest. They say that the protest was (relatively) peaceful until the police pulled up the water cannons. There were a couple of masked protesters in the crowd and the police didn't allow the whole thing to start until all pulled down their masks. What hasn't been said in international media as far as I could tell was, that the protesters had nowhere to go. That's a relatively narrow street there without sidestreets in that area. You can see that around minute 5 the only way is climbing up that wall and a little bit later there's a 5m drop they could take, where a couple of protesters broke their legs.

We had a panic breakdown at a rave a couple years back in a similar situation (minus the police) where more than 10 people died in the stampede. So it seems like a miracle that there were no losses in this situation.

edit: found some more that shows kind of the other side:

You are right, most major protests have some kind of violence in them. Up here in Germany most protests are rather peaceful though. Burning cars and barricades are not the usual way. Flying bricks and the like are more common. What I meant by "peaceful" in this context was, that nobody was doing anything like that when the first report I posted started. It's always some idiot autonomous protester throwing something that starts shit like this.

Then again reports say that a lot of riot tourists have been there just to start violence and so on.

Woman trapped in window trying to retrieve poo after Tinder date

A woman who threw her poo out of her date's toilet window because it "would not flush" had to be rescued after she got stuck trying to retrieve it.

The amateur gymnast was on a first date with Bristol student Liam Smith when she "panicked" and threw the faeces out of the window.

It did not land in the garden, but became wedged between two non-opening windows.

After climbing in head first after it, she became wedged.

Mr Smith had to call the fire service for help.
