I was looking through the music posts and was surprised not to see this as a current topic...

What was the first music album you purchased?

While I had lots of music before this, the first album I actually purchased myself was "Colour and Shape" by the Foo Fighters. Still to this day one of my all time favorite albums and bands too.

Two on the same day:

"Reign in Blood" - Slayer

"Vulgar Display of Power" - Pantera

KISS LIVE

Me and some of my buddies actually performed as KISS at our Middle school talent show (me as Paul Stanley - drummer)

My buddy that played Gene Simmons (in our show) actually went on to tour the US as Gene Simmons, Heading up one of the KISS ARMY Bands. (How Cool Is That) \m/

Great thread Don (and great Album too)

Thankfully you didn't ask for the first single, as mine as the shameful 'Land of Make Believe' by Bucks Fizz.
You were lucky as I'm not sure they made it over the pond.

To the question in hand, I believe my first Album was as late as 1991.
It was a double album that I still have in mint condition (well the sleeve is), and I may have to dig it out and throw it on.
Many happy times, listening to...

The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld

It did come out in the U.S. in a shortened version. But it took me many places in my hazy youth :)

The first album that I ever purchased was

Big Bam Boom by Hall and Oates.

I loved the song "Out of Touch" so much that I also bought the 12" single.

I was 8 years old, my stepdad wouldn't buy it for me....but when I went to visit my dad for my routine weekend stay-over, pops came through for me. (of course I had to use my own money. lol)
The first album was AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. lol

Oooo, good one. Don't recall my first 45, had too many to count. First "real" music album I think was Def Leppard - Pyromania.

I can't remember my first album but it was probably a K-Tel "best of" record. I occasionally have nightmare flashbacks of The Bay City Rollers.

When I was quite little I thought there were only three types of music. Elvis, The Beach Boys and stuff my parents listened to. Then one day my Dad brought me home of the K-Tel records and it literally blew my mind to find out there were other bands with different songs.
