TEAM MP GOTY FINALS!!! Ghost Recon:Wildlands vs. Horizon:Zero Dawn - Voting NOW!!

It's Time for the FINALS!!! Ghost Recon:Wildlands vs. Horizon:Zero Dawn

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon:Wildlands - the Ubisoft open world PVE/PVP shooter - was our #1 seed, and has been dominant so far in beating Fortnite and NBA2K17.

Horizon:Zero Dawn was the #2 seed and is a sand box RPG/single player adventure that was a critic's darling, as well as being universally liked by those who played it.

Is Horizon the game that will break the streak of multi-player shooters that have dominated Team MP GOTY up to now?

Voting will be open for 7 days. It's always interesting to hear your comments on each game, not just your vote - so don't forget to give the reasons for your vote and what you liked about each game. Bonus points for posting Team MP gameplay videos!!

While Ghost Recon:Wildlands was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed it, at the end of the day it is just another iteration of the Ubisoft open world Assassin's Creed/Far Cry engine. However, Horizon:Zero Dawn is an entire new highly promising franchise that was a joy to play and really unique. Horizon gets my vote.

    Presto Bitch!!

Ghost Recon Wildlands all the way. It was number 2 for me in hours played (NBA 2K18 was #1).

The single player/co-op was a blast which for a person who is not a fan of PvE in general speaks volumes. It's a game that I can jump back into at anytime for an hour or a marathon.

The addition of PvP just puts the game even further over the top.

While I love Horizon, I found myself tapping out about 75-80% of the way through. I have to call out Spikes comment about GR:W being just another Ubi open world title when Horizon Zero Dawn very obviously apes so much from Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.

Tough one this - I've had a blast in GR:W especially with other MPs in PvE and PvP. I just wished more people played it on PS4.

On the other hand, I'm really enjoy Horizon right now - bipping through the game and heading towards the 100%. The battles don't feel repetitive and while the basic adversaries don't get stronger they do work together with the harder robots in interesting ways.

I'm giving this to GR:W because this clan is after all called Team MP and GR:W has some excellent MP potential. Perhaps if H:ZD had MP in it...

While I had some fun with GR:W beta, it wasn't enough to get me to purchase. I consider picking it up every time it's on sale, but ultimately, if I want to play a Co-Op shooter I'm far more likely to jump back into Division or Destiny 2 as they both have more original mechanics, imo.

Horizon, on the other hand, I didn't get around to playing until recently, and have been hooked for weeks. I was pretty sure it was going to be overhyped, just another spin on Far Cry style, etc. But, pretty sure I've never played a Far Cry game with a story anywhere near as intriguing, or a main character anywhere near as likable. Neither Far Cry nor AC have had combat such unique combat mechanics... pretty much ever. And sure, there are bandit camps to clear, and things to climb that give you map information, but neither are as prevalent, nor as necessary to do as they are in FC / AC games, and the exploration and random encounters in the wild are insanely fun and rewarding.

I should give GR:W another shot one of these days, and can see how it's a popular MP title, but feel it's the MPs making the game fun, and the game itself is just providing a playground. Horizon is a unique and well-crafted game, offering a memorable gaming experience. And while it's still not my personal 2017 GOTY, it's a pretty close second.
